Released in October 1980, Remain in Light is widely regarded as one of the most groundbreaking albums in the history of rock and new wave music. Produced by Brian Eno, this landmark fourth studio album by Talking Heads fused West African polyrhythmic sensibilities with avant-garde rock, funk, and electronic experimentation, creating a sound that was entirely unlike anything that had come before.

This copy is the rare original Japanese first pressing released in 1980 on the Sire Records label (catalog number RJ-7691), manufactured and distributed by Nippon Phonogram Co., Ltd., Tokyo. The pressing features the iconic yellow SIRE label and includes all eight tracks that defined an era:

This Japanese pressing comes with the original OBI strip, the Japanese-language liner notes / insert with full lyrics and in-depth commentary by Yūji Konno (今野雄二), and the original inner sleeve — making it a highly desirable collector's item for any serious record enthusiast. The vinyl record, sleeve (jacket), OBI strip, and inner sleeve are all in Excellent (EX) condition. The insert shows some light creasing, and the OBI strip has minor scuffing and slight wrinkling; the liner notes display a touch of age toning, but overall the set presents beautifully. Please note that no playback noise check has been performed; as with all vintage records, some surface noise may be present even in areas without visible marks.

Talking Heads are an American new wave band formed in New York City in 1975, consisting of David Byrne (vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (guitar, keyboards). Emerging from the CBGB scene alongside acts like Blondie and Television, they quickly distinguished themselves with an intellectually rigorous yet deeply danceable sound. Over the course of eight studio albums from 1977 to 1988, they incorporated elements of funk, African music, art rock, and ambient music — most famously on Remain in Light (1980), recorded in collaboration with producer Brian Eno. Their 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense, directed by Jonathan Demme, is considered one of the greatest concert films ever made. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Their influence on alternative rock, post-punk, and art pop is immeasurable and continues to resonate with new generations of musicians.
