Collapse explores the tension between structure and deformation through a modular surface that appears to both expand and collapse in on itself. The strict repetition of the grid creates a visual language associated with the digital and architectural universe, while the depth variations introduce a sense of optical instability and internal movement.
Produced in PLA and stainless steel, the work establishes a dialogue between industrial lightness and material permanence. The contrast between the geometric precision of the composition and the visual fluency evoked by light turns the sculpture into a perceptual experience in constant mutation. Depending on the observation point, the surface can suggest compression, absorption, or spatial distortion, as if the matter were subjected to an invisible force.
The integration of a French cleat fixing system reinforces the piece’s relationship with architecture, allowing the sculpture to hang cleanly and continuously, almost as an extension of the wall itself. In Collapse, the object ceases to function merely as physical volume and becomes an active visual field, where shadow, depth, and repetition build a simultaneous sense of silence and tension.
