Description from the seller

Pair of antique Victorian 'press-back' Windsor armchairs
Set of two English Windsor armchairs, model 'Captain’s Chair'.
Dating: Late Victorian, circa 1880 - 1900.
Material: Entirely crafted from solid oak with a rich, well-used patina.

Description:
An exceptionally matching pair of antique Windsor chairs of high quality. The chairs feature a characteristic 'press-back' top rail with finely detailed wood carving (scrollwork/roundel motif). The construction displays the classic Windsor features: a deeply scooped saddle seat, continuous spindles and turned legs connected by an H-shaped rail (stretcher) for maximum stability.

Condition:
The chairs are in an authentic, unrestored condition. Structurally very solid with the original mortise-and-tenon joints. The wood shows beautiful natural wear on the armrests and seat, appropriate for the age. There are normal hairline cracks in keeping with age, which do not affect stability. Free from active woodworm.

Dimensions:
Total height: 91 cm
Seat height: 45 cm
Seat width: 46 cm

Seller's Story

If something moves me, I buy it. It’s that simple, really. Since 2008 I scour here and abroad, always looking for that one object with a soul. Whether it’s an ancient antique piece or modern design: if it radiates craftsmanship and character, I’m hooked. I enjoy giving these finds a new home. Take a look around, and I hope my passion for quality touches you as well.
