Description from the seller
Original GISO (Gispen) wall lamp. Can be mounted directly on the wall or via the attached cord. Then the lamp can also be placed in another location. Easy to adjust by removing the junction block. Then it is back in its original state. See all photos for a good impression. The photos are part of the description.
Extra info and a short history:
In 1926 Gispen introduced the first collection of Giso lamps. A completely new form of lighting in the Netherlands. The Giso lamps were made of crystal glass that was coated with a very thin layer of opal glass. The 'Giso glass' let more, paler light through than the common milk glass. This meant higher light output, more economical energy consumption, and prevention of glare. With the Giso lamps, Gispen cleverly rode the electrification of the Netherlands during the twenties.
Now, almost 100 years later, a large part of the GISO collection still consists of fixtures with opal mouth-blown shades. This beautiful lamp is no exception! Often designed in the first half of the 20th century by various designers. Still in production due to the advantages Gispen had also discovered, but above all because of its timeless character. As a result, it fits perfectly into any interior—modern, classical, or vintage.
