This snapshot was captured in
New York during the official acts
of the inauguration of the New York World's Fair, held at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, at the moment when Johnson was already fully serving as president after winning the elections in late 1964.
Enrique Meneses was a correspondent at the eye of the storm in the U.S.: in the 1960s he moved to New York. From there he covered the Civil Rights Movement led by Martin Luther King (he was at the famous March on Washington in 1963) and the presidency and assassination of John F. Kennedy, in addition to photographing his successor, Lyndon B. Johnson.
