Description from the seller
Özlem Thompson is a contemporary Turkish-born artist based in London, internationally recognised for her vibrant abstract works inspired by nature, consciousness, quantum physics, and the mysteries of the universe. Originally from Istanbul, Thompson studied biology and botany before dedicating herself fully to painting, a background that continues to influence the organic forms and cosmic structures present throughout her work. Working from her historic Belsize Park studio in London, once associated with Piet Mondrian and Ben Nicholson, she has exhibited internationally across Europe, America, and the United Kingdom. Her works are held in private collections worldwide and have been featured in numerous international publications.
Thompson has also contributed to significant public art and charity initiatives, including works created in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee as one of seven selected artists in the UK and participation in London’s renowned Big Egg Hunt charity art project. Her collectors include internationally recognised figures such as Brian May, Anita Dobson, Maria Friedman, and Andy Nyman. Upcoming exhibition: “2026 SDGs Through Arts London,” presented by ZeeArts Gallery in collaboration with the Houses of Parliament, Goldsmith Hall, and Creative Women Platform, as part of a selected 17 Women Artists exhibition (4–5 June 2026)
“Black Holes Create Parallel Universes” is one of Thompson’s most imaginative and intellectually engaging paintings, exploring ideas of alternate dimensions, cosmic connection, and the unknown nature of existence. Through expressive forms, layered abstraction, and dynamic colour relationships, the artist invites the viewer into a dream-like universe where separate realities appear to intersect through mysterious black holes. The work reflects Thompson’s fascination with science, spirituality, and the limitless possibilities of the cosmos, creating a visually immersive composition that is both energetic and contemplative.
Created in 2019, the artwork is an original acrylic and oil painting on canvas measuring approximately 47 x 39 inches. The original gallery listing price for the work was approximately US$3,540.
The artwork is hand-signed by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. For safe international delivery, the painting will be carefully shipped rolled in a protective art tube.
