Description from the seller
“My Portrait” arises from the experience of looking at oneself in the mirror and discovering that no image returns a complete truth. The work does not intend to represent a recognizable face, but rather what exists behind appearance: thoughts, emotions, memories and contradictions that coexist in a single identity. The geometric shapes, layered and transparent, function as fragments of a changing self that can never be perceived in an absolute way.
Influenced by the principles of Bauhaus, the composition reduces the figure to essential elements: color, form and balance. Geometry stops being merely a visual structure to become an emotional and spiritual language. Through circles, curves and transparencies, the work seeks to demonstrate how the simple can contain a deep internal complexity.
It also dialogues with Gestalt theory, especially in the way the eye tends to fuse dispersed fragments to construct a whole. Although the painting is made up of multiple independent shapes, perception organizes them into a single presence, almost human, revealing how the mind completes what is not explicitly represented. Thus, the viewer does not observe a defined portrait, but an identity in constant construction.
The mirror, then, ceases to be an object that faithfully reflects reality and becomes a space of reinterpretation. Objective reality expands toward a more subjective dimension, where color and form express what cannot be said through a literal representation. The work proposes that all identity is multiple, unstable, and open to change; a portrait that never finishes defining itself because the human being does not either.
About MUMA:
MUMA is an artistic duo formed by a Generalist 3D practitioner and Designer and an Art Historian, both trained at CEU San Pablo University in Madrid. Their artistic practice focuses on the plastic arts, with special interest in color, movement and the dynamism of forms, as well as in variations of the environment. Their work is conceived to integrate into space and establish a direct dialogue with routine and human experience, exploring a vital vision linked to the ideals of Impressionism, such as the relationship with nature, color and changing environments. MUMA is connected to the professional world of digital and plastic arts in Madrid, with participation in competitions.
About preparation, packaging and shipping of the work:
