Medsan presents 'Edo Sandrider (江戸サンドライダー) - Hand Signed', a 40 × 60 cm giclée on wood-mounted canvas, in a limited edition (2026) and hand-signed in the cartouche, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
With this portrait-format work (40 × 60 cm), Medsan offers an epic fusion between classic Asian mythology and the universe of contemporary science fiction, drawing direct inspiration from the Dune saga. This print depicts the majestic emergence of a colossal dragon with golden scales, rising not from water but from an ocean of moving sand dunes.
The heart of the action lies in the bold confrontation between this titanic creature and a human figure from the Edo era. A character dressed in a dark blue traditional coat and wearing a straw hat (kasa) clings to the creature's flank. With thick ropes wound around the beast’s body, he attempts to capture or ride this dragon of sands, recalling the mastery of giant worms by the desert peoples in science-fiction culture. The movements of the sand are stylized like the foaming waves of traditional prints, reinforcing the dynamic of ascent.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a deep blue sky, creating a striking contrast with the ochre, yellow and gold tones of the dragon and the dunes. The confident line and the flatness of the colors scrupulously respect the codes of ukiyo-e printmaking, giving this action scene a bold pop-art and cinematic aesthetic. The traditional vertical cartouche in the upper right, set against a bright red background, houses the artist’s signature in Katakana (メドサン) and perfects the visual balance of the work.
A conceptual piece, both aesthetic and adventurous, ideal for adding a pop, graphic and majestic touch to a stylish, contemporary interior.

About the Atelier:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists brought together around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true artistic production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work influenced by cinematic and realist aesthetics. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, art brut and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, realized, and followed within the studio, sharing a common artistic standard and maintaining a unique identity for each artist.
