Binnacle with dinghy compass - Copper

Sloop compass with an oil burner from the eighties.
The compass housing with liquid and the floating card are suspended from a gimbal ring that sits in a binnacle.
A binnacle is a space or cabinet on the deck of a ship where navigational instruments were placed that needed protection. Because of the gimbal axis, the compass always stayed level when the ship moved violently in a heavy storm.

This lot has been carefully cleaned and will be carefully packaged, sent by registered mail and insured (with Track & Trace code so you can track the shipment). Pick-up in (Ridderkerk, South Holland) is also possible. I have tasty hand-ground coffee.
