Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A neo-baroque bascule vanity mirror with an alloy frame and glass mirror, model Toletta con putti, made in Italy and dating to 1940–1950, externally 35 cm high by 25 cm wide by 8 cm deep (internal 27 by 20 cm), weighing 1.1 kg, in good used condition with patina and light age marks.
Description from the seller
Enchanting tilting table mirror in a exquisitely neo-baroque taste, made in bronze or heavy brass alloy finely worked. This kind of mirrors, historically known as psyché, was an indispensable element on the sophisticated toilettes of the first half of the twentieth century.
The oval frame, supported by two elegant scroll pedestals, is a triumph of sculptural detail:
At the top sits a sumptuous shell decoration (rocaille), typical of the Rococo repertoire.
The perimeter is animated by three cherubs in relief, deftly set among leafy scrolls and parchment motifs, who seem almost to support or mirror themselves in the plate.
The solid base with a false plinth is richly repoussé with geometric and vegetal symmetric motifs, ensuring stability and grace to the whole ensemble.
The lateral tilting mechanism is perfectly functional, allowing the mirror to be oriented as you please. The inner glass plate preserves the patina of time, bestowing that soft and slightly nostalgic reflection that only antique mirrors can give.
A piece of great visual charm, perfect for enriching a classic bedroom, an antique-style bathroom, or as a sophisticated eclectic decorative detail on a console.
Conditions Very good, structurally sound. Splendid vintage patina with hints of natural verdigris in the recesses of the castings.
Dimensions of the mirror 27 x 20 cm
