Sony - WM-4 Walkman

This budget model of the second generation replaced the WM-1. It offered similar features, but was three-quarters the size.
The WM-4 was an early Walkman, produced in Korea. It was a cheaper version for the mass market and resembled the earlier WM-F1. That one had a built-in FM tuner, but was produced in Japan.
The WM-4 was available almost worldwide and immediately became a success thanks to the rugged tape transport mechanism (MT-WM4-05), which was originally designed for a dictation machine. It was a very loud device with an output power of 30 mW per channel and had two jack connections so two people could listen at the same time.
It works and, apart from a small corner-wear spot (see fig. 9), in good condition.
