Description from the seller
This painting is the work of the Italian artist Mimmo Germanà (Catania, 1944 – Busto Arsizio, 1992), a prominent figure of the Transavanguardia, characterized by a bold use of color and figures with soft, sinuous shapes, often immersed in dreamlike landscapes.
Many of his canvases similar to this one date from around 1989–1990 and depict a female figure in the foreground with vivid colors ranging from red to orange and yellow.
A background with stylized trees and brushstrokes of blue, green and violet. The figure appears to be holding an object, probably a shell, near the ear. Signed on the back with date and title.
Germanà is known for having participated in the Venice Biennale in 1980, and his works are today traded at several major Italian auction houses. Canvas size 70 x 40 cm. Attached is a certificate from the General Archive of the work with number CRSCRSRA/OT.
The lot will be carefully packed and shipped with approved couriers and online tracking. For this lot, shipments outside the European Community are not made.
