Around the artwork:
Many influences emanate from the work of Ukrainian photographer Ruslan Lobanov. Among them cinema, fashion, but also and above all the assumed erotism of the sacred monster Helmut Newton. A fervent admirer of the Australian photographer, Ruslan Lobanov is also known for his black-and-white nude photographs of women. Behind each shot, the staging and the attitude of the characters tell a story whose ending is at the viewer’s discretion.
About the artist:
Ruslan Lobanov is one of the most influential artists in Eastern Europe. When he photographs female nudes, he draws inspiration from cinema and fashion to create erotic photographs in which the sensual bodies of women are displayed without restraint. Breaking with convention, these women embody female freedom that earned the photographer a distinction in Beverly Hills at the International Color Awards in 2015, and have featured in notable collaborations with Playboy and L’Officiel, as well as with the cosmetics group L’Oréal.
Ruslan is one of the best photographers of the twentieth century, alongside Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Philippe Halsman, Elliott Erwitt, Annie Leibovitz, or Robert Capa.
