Height: 2.5 cmWidth: 23 cmDepth: 17.5 cm

Shipping method: DHL Express

This elegant Japanese lacquered telegram box (denpō-bako) features a striking flock of flying cranes rendered in shimmering gold Maki-e Gold Decoration on a deep black-brown lacquer ground. The composition depicts two larger red-crowned cranes surrounded by numerous cranes in flight, symbolizing grace, longevity, and the beauty of nature in traditional Japanese decorative arts.

Crafted using traditional Japanese Urushi lacquer techniques, this rectangular box was originally used for storing telegrams, letters, documents, or precious keepsakes. The interior is finished in glossy black lacquer, creating a refined contrast with the richly decorated lid.

Its sophisticated design makes it suitable as a collector’s item, decorative display piece, jewelry box, stationery box, letter box, or traditional Japanese interior accent.

Good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface scratches, and minor signs of use consistent with age. Please refer carefully to the photographs for details.
