TITLE
Three gelatin silver prints, Venice: Piazza San Marco, Palazzo Gozzi and Festa del Redentore, c.1910
SUMMARY
Three large-format gelatin silver prints from commercial souvenir series depicting views of Venice, circa 1910. Two carry the 'Edizione inalterabile' imprint associated with Giacomo Brogi, Florence, with catalogue numbers 3052 and 3131. Subjects comprise Piazza San Marco with the Campanile, Palazzo Gozzi on the Grand Canal, and the annual Festa del Redentore procession on a temporary pontoon bridge.
DESCRIPTION
No. 1 — Piazza San Marco dal Palazzo Reale. Wide-angle view looking east across the piazza toward the Basilica di San Marco and the Campanile. Two figures feed pigeons in the foreground; further figures in the middle distance. Procuratie Vecchie to the left, Procuratie Nuove to the right. Printed caption: 'N. 4 VENEZIA — Piazza S. Marco dal palazzo Reale'. The Campanile as depicted is the rebuilt structure, completed in 1912, or the original predating its collapse in July 1902; confirmation requires closer examination.
No. 2 — Palazzo Gozzi on the Grand Canal. View from canal level toward the Gothic-Renaissance facade of Palazzo Gozzi, with a gondola moored at the water-gate. In the foreground, a woman fishes with a rod; two children, one in the water, are to her left. Printed caption: 'VENEZIA — Palazzo Gozzi.' Catalogue number: 3131.
No. 3 — Festa del Redentore procession, Grand Canal. Elevated view along the Grand Canal showing a religious procession crossing a temporary pontoon bridge. Participants carry banners and a black processional flag; clerics in white surplices lead; a large lay crowd follows. Several palazzi line the right bank. Printed caption: 'VENEZIA — Canal grande — Processione del Redentore — altra veduta.' ('altra veduta' confirms a companion view exists in the series.) Catalogue number: 3052.

Nos. 2 and 3: 'Edizione inalterabile' series, Giacomo Brogi, Florence (nos. 3052 and 3131). No. 1 carries a separate 'N. 4' numbering and may derive from a different series.
