Critical presentation for ANTONIO CIVITARESE:
A talented artist of precocious intellect, he paints sumptuous canvases with a refined technique of ancient origins, arriving to us from the past: tempera with natural pigments bound to eggs, illustrious precursor of future oil color, capable of ensuring excellent painting results dense with harmony in the expression of delicate and dreamy atmospheres, yet also decidedly engaging.
Civitarese, with his poly-chromatic expression rich in tones and half-tones that flare into bright timbral notes, asserts the pride of his territorial and cultural origins, deeply rooted in the interior of his inspirations.
A seafaring man, with a briny wave that runs powerfully through his veins with passionate impulse, he favors pelagic subjects, in whose execution he externalizes all his competent mastery and technical command that sinks its roots in Italian Renaissance with personal touches of modernity.
The painter deftly ranges between rich landscape painting and bold informal compositions in which he translates sublime moods broadly shareable: a path veiled in synthesis... an existential summary that always appears in Civitarese’s works with a kind of material magma formed by blossoms that develop in surprising sensory tensions, lit by atmospheric light.
Nuclei of painting that develop into chromatic units from which detailed parts emerge. It is as if the author proclaims that life arises from color, insinuating itself with liquid streams into the fissures of fullness.
The artist, with stroke marks, gazes at LIFE subjugating it... and nonetheless identifying himself. Man is a sign, Life a trace!
On this conceptual space, between lines and humanity, contexts play, territories vanish, in an ever more fragrant and attentive and curious discovery than any simple and banal luminous tremor. Thus the creative impulse becomes the harmony of construction, sound for a musical symphony in which brushes dance, exalting the colors in a rich rainbow of divine Arcadia.
The sign seeks unexplored spaces in the laudable ongoing experimentation of an original personal-taste palette, with exhilarating results.
Chromatic fields broken by sudden internal eruptions that confirm the inescapable formal debt to a kind of hidden poetic geometrism, unfathomable... based on the atmospheres, which in turn are the subtle thread of thought.
Civitarese lives his passion for Art intensely and fixes it on the canvases, never profaning reality anonymously, but interpreting it in content. It is the mirror of the emotion of a true author facing the harmony of Creation. /
