Icon - Wood - Pantocrator

Christ Pantocrator (Christ Almighty), one of the most venerated images in the Orthodox tradition.

The cruciform halo bears the Greek letters Ο Ω Ν ('He Who Is'), a reference to the divine name revealed to Moses.
On both sides appear the Greek abbreviations IC XC, meaning 'Jesus Christ'.
The Slavic inscription reads 'Господь Вседержитель' ('Lord Almighty' or Pantocrator).
Christ blesses with the right hand and holds the Gospel with the left.
The traditional colors are present: a reddish tunic (humanity) and a greenish-blue mantle (divinity).

This type of icon was very popular in Russia between the 18th and 19th centuries.
