POPLEA, RAINBOW II by POPLEA (2000), original acrylic painting, 53 × 73 cm, signed by hand, France, Culture Pop theme, period 2020 et après, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Original technique: Sculpted Pigmented Concrete
This work is created according to a personal technique developed by the artist, combining mineral concrete and colored pigments embedded directly into the material. Unlike traditional painting applied on the surface, the colors are an integral part of the very structure of the work. A specific blend of fine concrete, artistic binders and pigments is worked manually and then sculpted before it fully sets.
The reliefs are then traced and shaped by hand to create a network of three-dimensional lines that traverse the material. This method yields real physical depth, where light catches the volumes and continually reveals new nuances depending on the viewing angle.
Each piece requires numerous steps of layering, pigmentation and manual sculpture, making any reproduction strictly impossible.
The artist Popléa:
If you own this work, you have in your hands an authentic piece signed Popléa.
But you should know: Popléa is a pseudonym.
They have not yet revealed their identity—voluntarily. This choice is part of a broader artistic project, a form of experiment:
Create without a name, without status, without biography.
The artwork alone. The image alone. What it evokes. What you feel.
The artist behind Popléa is already exhibited, recognized, collected—but has chosen to explore another path, freer. Refuse filters, codes, discourses.
Refuse that it is always the same—galleries, experts, networks—who decide what has value.
Perhaps what you own is the beginning of something.
Or perhaps it is simply a work that speaks to you, here and now.
Both options are beautiful.
And deep down, maybe that is the true luxury.
The work is hand-signed, delivered ready to hang, in a 4x4 packaging with insurance included.
Happy bidding
