What is born on the street, in the urban and public context, is transferred inside buildings, houses, or museums, completely changing environment and meaning. In this case, the most interesting stretch of wall is selected and cut out—the one on which the street artist had created the outdoor intervention. The fragment is then detached from the original street context and transformed into an autonomous object. Once cut, this piece of wall can be transported and placed indoors: in homes, in buildings, in museums, or in other edifices. In this way the work changes environment and function, moving from the public, everyday space of the street to a private or institutional space where it is preserved and displayed as a true artistic object. All of this represents a kind of imagined reconstruction by the artist, reflecting on the process of moving the work from the urban context to the domestic or museum setting.
