Description from the seller

The arched harp, also called the bent harp or angular harp, is one of the most widespread instruments in equatorial Africa, notably in the regions of the Great Lakes, the Congo, Gabon, and the Central African Republic.

This instrument is distinguished by a rigid curved neck (console or yoke) fitted with a fixed resonator, as well as strings attached to the soundbox and tensioned obliquely up to the neck through a tension system (pegs, frets, etc.).

Visual characteristics allowing its Mangbetu - Makere origin
This arched harp that we offer on art-africain.co appears to originate from the Mangbetu - Makere ethnicity of the Congo (DRC), according to its distinctive visual and apparent features.

It measures 54 cm
