Original Kewpie doll - bisque
The body is egg-shaped
The Kewpie (named after Cupid) were designed by Rose O'Neill around 1909
They symbolized innocence and love. The dolls have a distinctive lock of hair (a kind of bun on top of the head) and eyes that look to the side
This doll was manufactured by Seyfarth and Reinhardt - Germany
Around 1912 the dolls were first made in bisque
Some damage to the paint on the torso (see photos) - otherwise excellent condition

Zij stonden symbool voor onschuld en liefde. De poppen hebben een karakteristieke haarlok (soort knot boven op het hoofd) en zijwaarts kijkende ogen
Deze pop is mogelijk gemaakt door Seyfarth en Reinhardt - Germany
Rond 1912 werden de poppen voor het eerst in biscuit gemaakt
Wat beschadiging in het verfwerk van het lijfje (zie foto's) - verder uitstekende conditie
