The history of damask steel goes back hundreds of years. The legend mentions damask knives that are so strong that they can cleave a gun barrel in two and that they can split a falling hair. These are of course legends but they indicate that these are special knives.

Maintaining the knife:
Damask steel is a very special, artisan product with a high carbon value. As a result, Damask knives require special care for use and it’s best, when washing the knife, that no detergent is used. It is recommended that the knife be cleaned with water after each use, then once it is dry, it should be coated with a layer of (olive) oil. This is how they retain their natural quality.
