Renault - R4 1128 GTL - 1979

This restored Renault R4 is in very neat condition, we’re selling it on behalf of a client. This car comes from an inheritance. It was completely and correctly restored. The owner has sadly died a year after the restoration. This car is one of the first Renaults R4 GTL. It was upgraded with larger 1100cc engine in 1978. This type is from the first 2 years of the GT,L it has the stronger 1100cc engine with a 32 mm carb. It originates from a Renault R6 and has 47pk. It is used with a restrictor in the Renault 4 and gives 35 hp. Simple to remove, you will then have 47 HP. This makes this Renault a somewhat snappier car. This type has the small dashboard, outside hinges and drum brakes. The car dates from 02-01-1979 therefore one of the first. Valid periodic vehicle inspection until 22-5-2019. This unique Renault R4 is known to rust, it was at its peak in the late 70s early 80s, the sheet metal from this period was very bad. That makes this a unique car, not many R4s are left over from the period 1978 to 1982. Cataphoresis treatment applied in 1983, this reduced the rust problem significantly. This Renault is fully restored, chassis as well as the body have been blasted. Various parts have been restored, made sleek again with epoxy, professionally resprayed in the original 464 colour, taking into account the original paint when the car was supplied. This is an original car with a neat restoration, no trouble or expense spared. The interior has been refilled and cleaned, the seats have original beige leatherette. This was an option, a fabric interior was normal at the time. The quality of the leatherette was also a lot better than the fabric version. The headlining has been redone, the roof is original. Technically reassembled, all parts have been replaced that were not good. However, the original engine and gearbox were used - these were all checked, gaskets and seals have been replaced. Everything else was reconstructed, a large maintenance service was carried out. The engine was not revised because the mechanics were still in good condition. This car is unique in its kind, no expense or trouble spared to make it as original as it is. Photo report from the past is available. The market value is a fraction of what the project has cost. The customer only had one thing in mind, he wanted the Renault to be as it should, in the right way. The car has a new and valid valuation report, valid with EU countries. This R4 can be viewed by appointment in Yde (Drenthe), the Netherlands, it can also be collected from there after the end of the auction. Transport can be provided by arrangement, we work together with a good transport company. An export document and relevant export registration is possible upon request.
