The legendary comic book artist Carlos Ezquerra died from lung cancer on 1 October 2018, leaving behind one of the most astonishing artistic legacies in comic books. As co-creator of Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog for British comic book 2000 AD, Ezquerra influenced generations of artists, writers, directors, cinematographers, academics, scientists, politicians, and innumerable others. His passing was a profound loss for his family, friends, fans, and the wider comics world.
This one-off piece of original artwork is artist's Chris Weston's tribute to Ezquerra's rich legacy, published in the 2000 AD Villains Takeover Special on 1st May 2019. It is a unique and moving piece of art that pays tribute to Ezquerra's genius and just some of the many memorable characters he created.
All proceeds from this sale will go directly to cancer charities in Ezquerra's name.
The art is drawn directly onto thick Bristol Board and will be securely mailed flat to the winning bidder. The measurements of the art are 20 11/16" x 14 1/8" (525mm x 359mm).
