Boki tribe headcrest , Cross River region (Nigeria). An exhibited and several times published mask with a big black nose ( separated), encrusted pigments in red-ochre, white and black, peg teeth (some missing) and a black layered offering patina.
This mask was collected in situ by Mr. Schaedler in 1988 Cotonou-Benin, and it has been extensively exhibited and pubished since.
Appears in Götter Geister Ahnen (Gods Spirits Ancestors) nr 277 in Museum für Völkerkunde Wien 1994.
Passed from the hands of Schaedler (Munich) to Sothebys (25 May 1999), to Neumeister, Andrea Achmann, Germany (2009).
