Mixed copper and brass W.M.F. (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) art deco small biscuit barrel or bonbonniere. Clear W.M.F ostrich in diamond stamp.
Only two examples of this pattern seen for sale online since 2006, both incorrectly advertised as Jugendstil/art nouveau/secessionist. This very simple ostrich mark was most probably used between c. 1925 to 1930.
Simply etched glass container in perfect condition apart from one tiny (2 mm x 1 mm) nibble - not visible with lid on. Solid brass soldered ball feet, handles and finial.
Item is in original condition and not polished. The bottom of one brass handle has come loose from its solder without handle form being compromised. - an easy fix for those in the know.
Dimensions: height 20 cm, diameter barrel 11 cm, handles 4.5 cm wide.
