Typewriter made in Germany by Wanderer Werke in 1933, the same manufacturer that created the prestigious German car brand Audi. These typewriters (CONTINENTAL), monopolised a very wide market and competed with American machines. They even made models with Cyrillic alphabet. They are robust machines with good writing, quite heavy. The dimensions of this typewriter is: 39 x 24 x 36 cm and it is approximately 15 kg Serial number 481157. Valuable collection object with chrome plating and paint in excellent condition. Wanderer-Werke was a major German manufacturer of bicycles, motorcycles, automobiles, tools and office machinery, founded in 1885 in Chemnitz (Germany). The founders of this factory (Winklhofer and Jaenicke) used the name of Wanderer from the translation of the word Rover, which was the brand that the English John Kemp Starley had given to their bikes. The CONTINENTAL typewriters, which were manufactured until the Second World War by Wanderer-Werke, were the most prestigious, sold both in Germany and abroad. Moreover, this factory produced the first cars of the prestigious German brand Audi. In the attached photos, you can see the four rings on the front of the cars that are now the symbol of Audi. With this machine, you’ll experience writing with a glass type keyboard and the sound of the steel bars when they collide with the ribbon and stamp the symbols on the paper.
