Description
Edouard-Leon Cortes (1882-1969) - Pastora paseando
Gouache, Watercolour - Hand signed - XIX-XX

Beautiful work, Edouard Leon Cortes (FRANCE, Lagnysur-1882-1969)

A shepherdess walks around with a basket in her right hand, a brown goat walks in front of her. In the background there is a landscape where the tower of a church can be seen. Traditionalist and bucolic subject-matter where the treatment of drawing, colour and light stands out

It comes from an important Spanish private collection.

Edouard Léon Cortès was a French painter known by his impressionist scenes, his idealized Parisian streets and his rural French villages. Although Cortès was decades younger than the first generation of impressionist painters, such as Claude Monet,

he obtained a great commercial success with his paintings of urban Parisian subject-matter. It should be noted that in his residence of Legny-sur-Marne, where he painted numerous works with scenes of life in the countryside, landscapes, interior scenes, still lifes, his works are exhibited in museums in France, Belgium, England, Sweden, Switzerland and Canada.

The painting will be sent well protected and very well packed, with tracking number.
