The Dordrecht painter Frans Lebret (Dordrecht 1820 – Dordrecht 1909) was a student of the romantic painter Willem de Klerk (1800-1876). Later he became a board member and chairman of the drawing society Pictura in Dordrecht. He mostly painted landscapes and stable interiors with cattle. At on older age, he drew city views of Dordrecht by heart that have long vanished.
