Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) - A girl from 1914

Description
Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) - A girl from 1914
Original Heliogravure - Plate signed - 1914; 1940s

An original heliogravure after Egon Schiele. Provenance: a small edition published in Vienna by the State Print Office of Austria (Staatsdruckerei Östereich) on high-quality paper in the 1940s; from a private collection in London.

The print, which demonstrates Schiele's distinctive style, is very well preserved. It has been stored in an archive and therefore not exposed to light throughout the 70+ years since it was printed.

Schiele prints from this period are very difficult to find as the majority are now in institutions and private collections. Prints from the same series have sold at auction for more than €1,500.00 on Catawiki. Please note: this is an original heliogravure/phototype from the 1940s, not a later reproduction or giclee print, which are far more common.

Taking into consideration its scarcity and value, the print will be carefully and professionally packaged with protective wooden boards, insured, and shipped with tracking. A signature will be required on delivery.

Egon Schiele has become one of the world's most celebrated artists - and is held in the same high esteem as the likes of Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso - since participating in the Vienna Secession alongside Oskar Kokoschka and Gustav Klimt.
