This book is in very good condition - Clean bright contents - Firm bindings - Inscription to title page from previous owner, dated 1872 - There are numerous illustrations / plates throughout the book, 3 of which are hand-coloured, depicting 'The Green Tody (Todus viridis)'; The Zebra Spider (Epeira fasciata, Fabricus); and The Wood Chat (From Le Vaillant's Birds).

The book covers a great number of various topics, ranging from bird migration, the sleeping and waking of plants, stuffed animals; to the luminosity of the sea, field sketches, organs of the voice, vegetable physiology, an the effects of music, electricity, magnetism, and galvanis upon animals - A very nice, collectable item.
