Old, very rare, Saxon cavalry pallash, M1881, for officers, 1910 way of wearing.
I am releasing from my collection an old, very rare Saxon cavalry pallash, M1881, for officers, 1910 way of wearing. Straight, thrusting blade with some pitting from corrosion, traces of the gilded, decorative etchings in the top section, on one side is ‘EISENHAUER’, on the other ‘DAMASTSTAHL’, on the back, from what I can read, ‘DAMM DRESDEN’, on the stem, maker’s mark. Gilded, non-ferrous metal knuckle-bow hilt (rubbed), with a heart-shaped guard, two side bars, finger guard and lion's head pommel, on the outside of the guard plate is the crowned coat of arms, handle coated with fish skin, triple brass wire wrap, old, repainted steel scabbard with a rigid suspension loop and riding loop. Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Please see photos for further details. Total length: 98.5 cm, without scabbard: 96.5 cm, blade length: 82.3 cm, blade width: 2.6 cm See Hilbert, ‘Blankwaffen’, Berlin, 1998, no. 12. You are welcome to take a look at it any time at my place.
