COLONIAL ORDER OF THE STAR OF ITALY, Commander and Grand Officer
The Order was established by Victor Emmanuel III of Savoy, by royal decree no. 38 of 18 January 1914, after Libya had become an Italian colony. It was originally intended as a reward for the indigenous people of the colonies who had distinguished themselves for the glory of the colonies and Italy. For this reason, it was established that Italians who were granted the Order could not exceed half the maximum number of members and that, in any case, the recipients of this category had to provide meritorious service in the Italian colonies, residing in them or being diplomats and government and army officers in colonial territory.
