A really superb and beautiful Antique Dutch Silver Scent Box, Reukdoosje, Geurdoosje, Lodereindoosje or Loddereindoosje. With a silver chain and a beautiful Floral Pattern on the Lid.
In a excellent condition given the age of 181 years. No serious damages, no repairs and no inscriptions.
Designed and made by the well-known Dutch Silversmith Cornelis van Gelderen from the City of Schoonhoven in the Dutch Province Utrecht.
Fully Hallmarked:
Year letter “F” for 1840.
The Dutch Lion with a 2, for .833/1000 solid Dutch Silver.
Silversmith' own unique mark 'VG 67' for Cornelis van Gelderen (1840-1976).
The Minerva Head, on behalf of the Dutch Silver and Gold Guarantee Office/Waarborgkantoor.
On the bottom the mark 'XVI'.
A very small dent at the front.
