Large Roman solid bronze rein guard for chariot or horse harness fitting in the shape of a Victory laurel wreath.

For centuries, the Roman laurel wreath played a valuable part throughout the Roman empire and was a symbol of victory. Roman emperors and other high-ranking officials wore a laurel wreath as a crown to represent their achievements and status.

Height: 84,6 mm
Width: 58,2 mm

Good solid condition, green patina. Display stand is not included. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
