This incredible silver coin is adorned with the Greek temple of the Parthenon that is almost 2500 years old. It is the fourth release of the Imperial Art Series from the Polish mint. The three previous releases of the series cover the Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Chinese civilisations.
The temple was built in the ancient acropolis, with a view of the city of Athens. Athens is home to the main ancient monuments and works of art, the most famous of which is the Parthenon.
Dedicated to the most important civilisations, the choice of the Polish Mint to cover Greek civilisation in the fourth addition to the Imperial Art Series was more than obvious.
The reverse side of the coin features the Parthenon Temple, with magnificent blue agate filling a window.
The obverse shows an internal view of the temple. It includes an image of Socrates and a profile of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse also shows a a blue window filled with agate to the left of Socrates.
The coin was struck in pure silver (999). It has a limited mintage of only 500 pieces. It comes in an elegant case.
