Justus Pieter de Veer (Dutch East Indies, 1845 - The Hague, 1921) was one of the big names of the Dutch 19th-century painters of the military genre. In 1900 the well-known book De uniformen van de Nederlandsche Zee- en Landmacht was published in two volumes, hier te lande en in de koloniën. In addition to Jan Hoynck van Papendrecht, Willem Constantijn Staring and Justus Pieter de Veer have provided these books with illustrations.
