about the author: Daniel Defoe (1660-24 april 1731) was an English writer, journalist and spy and is considered one of the founding fathers, if not the founder, of the English novel. He is best known for his books Robinson Crusoe (1719) and The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders (1722). His oeuvre includes more than 350 titles.
