The Kinderpost was published as an Austrian children's and youth magazine from 1946 to 1959.

With the zero number in December 1945 and publications from 1946 onwards, the Kinderpost was the pioneer among Austrian children's magazines in the post-war period. The journal, published until 1949/50 by the publishing couple Hans-Fred Handl and Gerda Handl, was the benchmark for the following journals: “Unsere Zeitung” (KPÖ-area) and “Wunderwelt”. The initial sales success of the Kinderpost was reduced by competition very soon. At first, Wunderwelt was able to establish itself as a renowned magazine among the Austrian children's magazines, then, from 1951, Mickey Mouse, published by the German Ehapa publishing house, became noticeable as an increasingly powerful alternative, regardless of all the reservations of educators.
