Comic author Willy Vandersteen created the comic Robert en Bertrand in 1972, based on the novel “Robert en Bertrand of De lustige vagebonden” which he had read as a child by Koen Ravestein, a pseudonym of Flemish author Rafaël Verhulst (1866-1941).
The two protagonists are French vagrants in the nineteenth century who evolve throughout the series into scoundrels fighting (social) injustice. On their way they encounter their archenemy Number 17, an agent who wants to charge them for vagrancy.
This reprinted edition of this story in Het Laatste Nieuws dates from 1941 (also the year of death of author Raf Verhulst).
The illustrator is hardly ever mentioned today...
Alberts (or Albertz) has left few traces.
