Mainline history: The first prototype Series V160 was built by the firm Krupp, and was delivered to the DB in 1960. It had the running number V160 001 and had a rounded front end. Several other locomotives of this Series followed (No’s.V160 002 to 009) which were then given the nickname “Lollo”. The first of the Series V160 (V160 010) with a different front-end was delivered in 1963, thus giving the V160 a new appearance. Up until 1968, 214 of these V160 locomotives (V160 011-224) were delivered. These locomotives could attain a top speed of 120 km/h.
