In the early 1980s, Africa was ravaged by a massive famine. Shocked by a documentary about Ethiopia, pop singer Bob Geldof initiated the charity single Do They Know It's Christmas, which features all the famous British pop stars of the time. After the success of this single, the American answer followed. The single We Are The World also became a big hit. On July 13, 1985, performances from both sides of the ocean joined forces for what could become the biggest happening of all. Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia were the setting for Live Aid, a worldwide benefit concert broadcast in full with the biggest pop stars of the moment. A selection of the participants: Paul McCartney, Sting, U2, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Simple Minds, Elton John, Queen, Mick Jagger, The Who, Neil Young, Status Quo etc. etc. Live Aid raised more than 80 million dollars on. Images of this legendary concert can now be seen again for the first time in twenty years, a repeat on television has never taken place. The myth can now finally be turned into reality.
