Up for auction this rare to the extreme and impossible to find RIAA Platinum award for Guns 'n Roses monster hit album "APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION" presented to the band in '88
History Making: According to BILLBOARD, in 2008 at the time this album was certified by RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), it was the best-selling debut album of all time. TODAY, it is cited as the 11th best-selling ALBUM of all time (debut or otherwise). Consider that the total budget was only $375,000 for this young group that was basically unheard of and was "booed" offstage as they warmed up the crowds for Motley Crue.
Axl Rose became the "bad boy" of heavy metal and Guns N' Roses would be a name carved in rock history stone forever. This award was presented to the man himself
Notable in the story of Appetite for Destruction is the fact that while it took all of March and April of 1987 to record the album in FOUR different California studios, the percussion and sound tracks were essentially completed in six days, but Axl Rose, with his perfectionism insisted on recording his vocals ONE LINE AT-A-TIME, driving the rest of the band bug-nuts and out of the studios while he drove the sound recording engineers bug-nuts. But after the exhausting mixing was finished - what a debut it was....not just in the U.S., but worldwide.
On the back we have the original Slash 1992 Bachelor Party/Jam Backstage "backstage pass" for Slash's bachelor party/jam at the Troubadour Club before his marriage to Renee Suran. The Troubador Club, incidentally, is where GnR got its start!
Appetite for Destruction was released on July 21, 1987 and certified Platinum on April 19, 1988.
