The work of Maurice Goth is that of a cosmopolitan.
He was born in Hungary, the son of a wealthy landowner, visited the academies of Munich, Vienna, Paris and Bruges in 1913 and traveled to the United States.
From Panne in Belgium, where he lived with his family in 1914, he fled at the outbreak of the war to the neutral Netherlands and arrived in Middelburg. There he met with Jan Toorop. The next 15 years were Domburg permanent residence of the painter and his family.
Goth later settled in Veere, and is deceased Amsterdam in 1944.
He painted, drew and watercolors to beaches, ports (Zeeland), flowers, portraits, figures and landscapes in the style of Impressionism, they later often with a luminist and expressionist touch.
He received the Hungarian Prix de Rome and several other awards.
Goth was a member of the artists' Arti and Amicitiae "in Amsterdam.
His work is much sought and incorporated into a variety of retail, corporate and public collections, wed the Hague Municipal Museum and the Centraal Museum Utrecht.
