A volume in 4º (24.2 x 18.3 cm) bound in antique parchment, labelling on the spine.

First edition in Italian, published 7 years after the original edition in Spanish, printed in Burgos in 1578. It describes, in a concise and fluid way, the properties of numerous exotic plants brought from the Indies, such as cinnamon, black pepper, tamarind, palm, nutmeg, cashew, camphor, saffron, mango, pineapple.

The last chapter is especially curious, where Asian elephants are described, and are illustrated with two large prints.

Palau 1694; Adams A-121; Durling 1066; Pritzel 13; Sabin 114.
