Mainline History:
Between 1908 and 1918 Maffei delivered the first 71 units of the series S3/6 in Munich. This was the most popular Bavarian express train with a towed tender. The most characteristic aspect of this series was the pointed engineer’s cab, that gave these locomotive a far more streamlined shape. In 1918, 52 of these locomotives were transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn and were reclassified as the series 18/4.
