A delightfully illustrated children's book. Colour illustrations and text decorations printed by Edmund Evans. There are 36 traditional nursery rhymes set to music (including favourites such as Jack and Jill, The Mullberry Bush, Three Blind Mice, King Arthur, Dickory Dock, Little Jack Horner, Bo-Peep). All beautifully illustrated with Walter Crane's superb drawings.
‘Walter Crane was an artist, designer, socialist, interior decorator and leading member of the Arts & Craft movement. However his reputation has always rested secure and illustrious on his illustrated Toy books, nursery titles and wallpaper. Much of his work being dedicated to children’.
Published by George Routledge & Sons, London, c.1877. Publishers’ original brown cloth boards with titles and illustrations on front, and read boards.

The book in very good condition for its age, with lovely vibrant colour plates. Light wear to boards’ corners. Binding tight. No writing or inscriptions. No tears or creases. Some foxing to front free end papers, and few other pages (Please see pictures).
