Gerard Reve - Twee kleine manuscripten/typoscripten in het Engels - 1956/1961

1. Handwritten fragment in English. One leaf. 13.7 × 21.5 cm. Recto and verso. Three lines in pen. c. 1956-1957.
* “Let me try and make the story clear to myself: Incest: Perversion and love to brother. Unlicensed stay in the country. Murder: Violent death of both. Advice about how to kill himself (Manfred). Insanity:”
On the back a start to a letter (‘Dear Madam’) with typed letterhead of W.J. Schuhmacher Jr. (‘Wimie’), addressed to the ‘Matron of the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases’ in London. Gerard and Wimie both worked in this hospital from September 1956 to April 1957.

2. Typescript in carbon copy of the first three lines of ‘Blood’. One leaf. 27.5 × 21.5 cm. Recto and verso. Somewhat creased.
* First lines of the translation of the story ‘Bloed’ (from Tien vrolijke verhalen (1961)). With the address of Reve at the top: Oudezijds Achterburgwal 55. On verso is typed ‘G.K. Van Het’.
