Very beautiful missal, completely enhanced with illuminations, here in a beautiful marbled calfskin binding, boards in two tones with frames in a darker colour than the centre, embellished with fillets and fleuron motifs in gilded stamping in the corners. Owner’s name “Roger” struck on the front cover. Spine with raised bands adorned with gilded fleurons and compartmentalized. Fine roulettes on the edges and the turn-in. All edges gilt. The endpapers and inner covers are covered in dark green moiree silk.
Binding in very good condition, as is the interior, fresh and free of foxing. Remarkable typography with illuminated text on every page. Very luxurious publication at the address of Braine-le-Comte in Belgium, in the style of the Missals published by Curmer during the 19th century.
Opens with a beautiful lithographed and gilded frontispiece.
