Copy of choice drawn up in a fine period binding perfectly executed in burgundy red half-morocco with corners, spine with 5 nerves, author and title in gilded letters, compartments decorated with fleurons with a bird in gilt irons in the center, all red edges .

The author was first a lawyer, then a judge in India and Tahiti (1865-1869). He has written numerous articles on Indian culture.
During his stay in India, he collected Sanskrit myths, which he later popularized.
