Splendid copy of this rare work of linguistics devoted to Sanskrit as "mother language" and to the languages resulting from Sanskrit. In the third part the author Louis Jacolliot studies the tradition of the Vedas and its expansion in the world.

First edition.

Copy of choice drawn up in a fine period binding perfectly executed in burgundy red half-morocco with corners, spine with 5 nerves, author and title in gilded letters, compartments decorated with fleurons with a bird in gilt irons in the center, all red edges .

Copy in excellent condition.

The author was first a lawyer, then a judge in India and Tahiti (1865-1869). He has written numerous articles on Indian culture.
During his stay in India, he collected Sanskrit myths, which he later popularized.
